Sr. Legal Counsel

 

 

 NKT is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel or a Legal Counsel with an international mindset and a commercial perspective. Based in Czech Republic as part of our Projects and Large Contract Department, your focus is to provide business oriented legal advisory services to top management, sales and procurement managers across the world. The position

You will handle the tendering and negotiation processes of various tenders and contracts with customers, joint ventures, subcontractors and suppliers by advising, preparing, drafting and reviewing and/or negotiating complex contractual documents and other relevant legal documentation for domestic and international EPC projects worldwide. As a dedicated project lawyer you will also participate in and be an active contributor as to the project execution activities of our main project contracts, including all relevant subcontracts, hence be a key stakeholder as to legal topics in conjunction with project execution vis-a-vis clients, joint ventures, subcontractors and suppliers – in close cooperation with NKT Project- and Contract management teams. 

Furthermore, you will support and advise NKT on all legal matters such as contract law, corporate law and antitrust law.  You will work closely with internal clients and management to maximize tenders and projects and minimize risks. You will be responsible for providing legal advice and opinions on risk analysis and related commercial issues. Another key responsibility is the interpretation of laws, regulations and other documents of a legal nature to ensure that the company's interests are adequately protected. Further key tasks are:

 

  • Train NKT staff and promote the capture of experience and transfer of knowledge related to general contractual and legal topics.
  • Participate in the application and follow-up of company policies, procedures and internal regulations.

 

Your background

 Your have substantial experience/track-record of working with large scale, complex tenders and contracts within the renewable or construction industry sector.  Offshore experience would be an advantage.  You like to work independently while at the same time you are a team player. You should have solid analytical skills and the ability to handle and prioritize among multiple tasks and deadlines. As advisor to (top) managers you can establish trust based on your professional behavior and business acumen.  Futher importnat qualifications are:

 

  • Masters of Law degree minimun 5-8 years of legal training from a similar function or from a large lawfirm
  • Fluent in Czech and English 
  • German language skills would be very welcomed

The Project and Large Contract department team consists of six senior legal counsels based at different locations in Europe (Denmark, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands).
