Project Director (m/f/d) Offshore & HVDC

You will lead complex Offshore & HVDC projects within the HV Cable Solutions Business Line based in Cologne. Reporting to the Manager Offshore & HVDC you will maintain and enhance customer satisfaction by providing excellent service at all stages of the project including subprojects.


Your responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the execution of projects, ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with NKT policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets and schedule commitments as well as customer expectation.
  • Leading the project team(s), ensure cross-functional collaboration, establishing the project execution approach and overseeing project hand-over, execution planning and monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals.
  • Defining all project plan documents in relation to scope, budget, schedule and risk management.
  • Monitoring each stage of project implementation to ensure best practices in terms of cost control, resource efficiency, risk management and health, safety and the environment.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating with all stakeholders and acting as the key contact for the customer as an escalation point for project issues.
  • Managing all aspects of the project to agreed-upon customer requirements, ensuring all technical, safety, quality and financial targets are met, and relevant guidelines are followed.
  • Monitoring and controlling project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow.
  • Driving the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and acknowledgement by the customer.
  • Guiding, motivating, coaching and developing the skills, knowledge and competencies of the project teams.


Your background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferable in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • At least 8-10 years’ experience in Project Management business, e.g. working at least 5 years as Project Manager preferable in High Voltage products/cables.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively manage a matrix team
  • Demonstrated broad experience in management of project scope, cost, schedules and vendors/subcontractors.
  • Leadership experience in project execution, with strong, well-developed communication, influencing and coaching skills.
  • Deep commercial and contract law understanding.
  • Sound knowledge of High Voltage Cables and relevant markets.
  • PMP or other project management certification preferred.
  • IT literate with good working knowledge of all relevant Microsoft Office applications.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, strong communication skills and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to Customer and projects, as required
  • Fluency in English and German
