Manager Payroll (m/f/d) Germany

Play a central role as Manager Payroll (m/f/d) Germany in defining and implementing a forward-looking HR strategy. In this important key function, you act as an interface between your Payroll team colleagues and the HR Director Germany. Together with your team, you will bring payroll to the highest possible level in terms of standards and processes and become part of the ambitious HR team in Cologne.


You will be responsible for the following aspects:  

You are responsible for the timely payroll accounting for approx. 1,350 employees and 350 pensioners as well as the relevant notifications in compliance with all legal as well as collective bargaining and company regulations, some of which have an international reference. You are also responsible for continuous process optimization and further development in the area of payroll accounting. By focusing on best practices, training and cross-functional cooperation, you will further build on the strengths of your team. You will be the contact person for employees, authorities, tax offices, auditing companies and professional associations for all questions relevant to accounting, e.g. wage tax law or social security law, even across national borders. Further key tasks are:

  • Responsible for carrying out all necessary work within the framework of the annual financial statements, including cooperation with internal and external bodies
  • Participation and implementation of international projects in the context of payroll accounting and/or the integration of SAP and other IT systems
  • Management and further development of your employees in the team
  • Preparation of monthly reports of personnel statistics and personnel costs within the framework of the further development of HR controlling in close cooperation with the controlling department
  • Collaboration in the development of further HR processes and systems (SAP, Reporting, Organization Management) in cooperation with other departments


To connect a greener world, you should have the following skills and experience:

You must have successfully completed an university course or equivalent and obtained a degree or diploma and have several years professional experience and at least three years management experience in the payroll sector. You have a very good knowledge of wage tax and social security law and already have experience in the application of collective agreements and works agreements. Experience in working with providers for external payroll accounting is desirable as well as already existing experience with audits and auditors. Further important qualifications are:

  • Profound knowledge in the field of company pension schemes and HR controlling, including experience in the preparation of ad hoc reports
  • Specific project experience or demonstrably successful implementation of payroll accounting projects
  • Experience in the coordination of payroll for employees abroad
  • Secure in dealing with SAP, databases and MS-Office
  • Very high ability to structure, assert and implement
  • Confident appearance, a strong communicative personality with high analytical skills and methodological competence
  • Fluent German and English
